Joe Mayer’s wife, Ann Sharp, is pleased to welcome one and all to a memorial event for Joe Mayer on Sunday, Aug.1 at the Shepherdstown Community Club.
“I’m so pleased to finally be able to have a gathering for all of Joe’s friends and family here in Shepherdstown, the place he loved working and living in the most. This will be a celebration of Joe’s life and work, a fun event, because Joe considered his whole life to be a fun event.”
The walls of the Community Club, both upstairs and down, will be hung with a vast retrospective of Joe’s work, which covers a range of genres—from abstract acrylics to landscapes in watercolor and oil, to mixed media. The work spans Joe’s 70-year career as a working artist in studio locations around D.C., the Eastern Shore, Santa Fe, and back here in Shepherdstown.
